Mailbox design for the Czech Post
Matyáš, Václav František ; Rubínová, Dana (referee) ; Rajlich, Jan (advisor)
This bachelor's thesis focuses on the design of the Česká pošta mailbox. It aims to find a functional and practical letter box which will be easy to manipulate with and at the same will be designed in a unique manner. The final design is based on an analysis of the current mailboxes around the world and their technical solutions. It brings an imaginative yet simple shape that is ergonomically pleasant and meets the requirements for a mailbox. The product could replace the current solution from the 1980s.
Neural Network Letter Recognition
Kluknavský, František ; Hradiš, Michal (referee) ; Šilhavá, Jana (advisor)
This work uses handwritten character recognition as a model problem for using multilayer perceptron, error backpropagation learning algorithm and finding their optimal parameters, hidden layer size, learning rate and length, ability to handle damaged data. Results were acquired by repeated simulation and testing the neural network using 52,152 English lowercase letters. Best results, smallest network and shortest learning time was at 60 neurons in the hidden layer and learning rate of 0.01. Bigger networks achieved the same ability to recognize unknown patterns and higher robustness at highly damaged data processing.

Braunová, Linda ; Mocná, Dagmar (advisor) ; Krejčová, Iva (referee)
BRAUNOVÁ, L.: František Kožík's biographical novels about Zdenka Braunerová compared to the extant correspondence /Master Degree Thesis/ Prague 2014, Charles University in Prague, Faculty of Education, Departement of the Czech Literature. Stříbná, Karolína ; Babušová, Gabriela (advisor) ; Štěpáník, Stanislav (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with constructivism and how best to employ it in teaching communication and text classes at elementary schools. It also explores possibilities of using constructivism when new text types are being implemented into the educational process. The thesis consists of a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part focuses on the constructivist way of teaching in general and it's basis for teaching the Czech language in particular. It also contains an analysis of the available teaching materials and a view of the specialised literature on teaching communication and text classes. The practical part presents a research into the pupils' preconcepts about selected text types. The two text types selected for this research are letter and instruction manual. The research is followed by an analysis and an interpretation, which might be useful in teaching about the selected text types. The conclusion provides recommendations for implementing the selected text types into Czech language classes.
